Chapter 2
Invites Then Frights

Shortly after Blaze came back into the lounge wearing her new red cloak instead of her usual purple one which she was carrying, "I made you second helpings if ya want" Sonic said getting up from the couch making his way to the table, "wow you sure work fast, eating your breakfast and making me seconds" Blaze said seemingly impressed while she put her purple cloak into the washing machine and then turning it on. "Uh... Heh well actually I haven't eaten yet." Sonic sighed cheerfully, "What do you mean haven't eaten? Are you saying you're giving your breakfast to me?" Blaze said feeling a little irritated as she made her way to meet Sonic at the table "yeah, cause I expect that you're still a little worn out from yesterday; so you must be hungry." Sonic explained softly with a solemn smile to match, "Don't be silly, I'm not that hungry" she childishly protested. But no sooner as she said that among the short silence her stomach growled which Sonic could only softly chuckle, "hmm I think you're stomach thinks otherwise kitten" he said, Blaze's blush has returned embarrassed that her body betrayed her, she didn't want Sonic to give up his food for her but she knew when Sonic was like this he never would accept no as an answer. "Hey, it's ok baby trust me, if I can go a few days in a medieval world without chilidogs then I'm sure I can survive a morning without food" Sonic said trying to lift her spirits sensing her conflicted mind. "And anyway..." Sonic continued "the only pick me up I need is your beautiful smell" Sonic sniffed the area around Blaze's head "ahhh, don't get better then that." he sighed peacefully, that compliment eased her a little but Blaze still wanted to try hard to argue but she had to admit, she was still feeling weak slightly after using all her energy yesterday and... The breakfast did look incredibly tempting. "...Ok, but, I'll do lunch deal?" Blaze proposed, she was touched on Sonic's gesture but she was adamant to repay him. "Deal" Sonic answered before planting a soft kiss on her; sealing the agreement. They both took a seat next to each other and Sonic watched as Blaze began eating again, smiling once more on her cuteness.

After Blaze had indulged herself in another perfect breakfast the two went around their usual routine of washing up. Blaze got her purple cloak out of the washing machine and put it into the drier, then she joined Sonic at the sink where they finished cleaning the dishes, then finally they went back to the couch at just sat back and relaxed; enjoying the feel to be home again after a long vacation. But 10 minutes into their relaxation there was a knock on the door.

Sonic looked over to the clock in the kitchen, "12 in the morning? Wow we must of slept in longer than I thought" Sonic said amazed how coming off a vacation and straight into labor must of tired them out, he slowly got up and made his way to the door with Blaze following him. Sonic opened the door and stood there was the newest resident in Möbius; the energetic young raccoon Marine wearing the brightest smile due to her relocation to be with her brainy boyfriend. "G'day lovebirds, sleep well?" Marine greeted with her usual spunky accent, "Hey Marine," Sonic said groggily as his eyes were temporally blind from the sudden mass of light, "geesh mate, whats up witya?" Marine asked seeming offended by the dim welcome, "sorry, heh just got up" Sonic replied, "come'on mates, you jus had a vacation, shessh you two sure ar lazy" Marine giggled, "well you didn't have to create and maintain a portal all day" Blaze retorted joining Sonic at the doorway, "yeah and luggin suitcases and boxes all day either" Sonic added trying to hold back a sudden yawn, "Oi! Ah helped," Marine spat "you carried your backpack" Blaze said sounding contentious, "So? That was still one less thing you had to carry" Marine argued in her typical childish manner, "but anewho..." Marine said wanting to change the mood, "thanks mates! Ah couldn't 'a done it witout ya" said Marine with her usual glee hugging both of them. "Hey anytime, so Marine what do you want? I mean you can't have just come to so just say thanks right?" Sonic asked curiously "Oh right, yeah since ah just moved in an all ah asked Tails if ah can ave a girls night tonight, ya know a little sleepover" Marine said seeming to be building in excitement, "sounds like sweet idea" Sonic said getting back into his usual stride, but as he glanced over to Blaze he could see clearly she didn't share the exuberance. "So yeah, I jus came over to ask Blaze if she wants'ta come over." Marine said sounding silvery, looking to Blaze for agreement.


Blaze maintained her doubtful gaze but then she looked down and slightly turned her head away from both of them, "... Umm... No thank you, I'm not really a sleepover person, I- I wouldn't want to bring anyone down" Blaze answered trying to sound modest. "Aww come'on Blaze it'll be awesome! It's jus a little Sheila get together, Amy's comin, an ah heard she's invited a whole lot'a more girls, which means ah get meet a lot more friends!" Marine said sounding fruity, "... I don't know, I mean I've never been to a sleepover before" Blaze said flatly, but that one comment raised made Sonic's eyebrow raise he knew something wasn't right. " Don worry bout it Sheila, I'll tell ya all about it when ya there" She assured sounding pretty confident, "Oh... Thank you but... I don't think that's nessacery" Blaze said sounding a little bit shaky. "Na, that's cool, all ya do is jus do each others nails, an just talk bout stuff, hee hee maybe even a pillow fight." Marine giggled in enormous excitement, Blaze didn't look back to neither Marine nor Sonic, she just kept her head down almost like she was mulling something over. "I still don't know... I'll think about ok?" Blaze said finally looking back to Marine in hope, "Yeah sure no problem mate! Jus come over to Tails' bout 7 and we'll get ta party started, the doors always open for ma best friend." Marine agreed sounding a tiny bit disappointed, "See ya two later!" Marine finished turning to leave, "Bye" Blaze said lowly, "See ya Marine! Stay cool!" Sonic shouted as she walked away, "Always do!" Marine responded before turning away and then carried on walking.

Sonic shut the door and turned back into the house, he saw already Blaze walking away and heading to the drier. "I'll think about it? Wanna tell me what that was all about?" Sonic asked suspiciously, "what's there to tell? I just don't feel like going that's all" Blaze answered getting her cloak from the drier and just trying to finish the subject. "Don't feel like it? You always like to hang out with Marine and the other girls, having an all girl night should be awesome for you, what's up?" Sonic said being skeptic, "Why do you have to think something's wrong? What I can't have a time where I just want time for myself?" She sarcastic putting her cloak on the table then going and sitting on the couch.  "No it's just that I don't recall you ever having a fight with any of the girls and I just thought you would like to go out, I mean I don't want you cooped up in this house all day" Sonic answered full of sincerity sitting beside her. "I haven't had a fight! And I can think for myself thank you very much" Blaze snapped on which Sonic couldn't help but be taken back a little. "Hey, calm down Blaze I was just thinkin of you that's all" Sonic said softly trying to sooth her, "I am calm! I don't need you to worry about me! Just leave me alone ok!?" Blaze shouted, she got off from the couch and stormed off into the bedroom and slammed the door. Sonic was hurt but was confused more than everything, though against most people's better judgment he couldn't just leave Blaze with her sudden troubled mind, so he got up and followed her ever so adamant to find out what was going on.

He opened the door a smidge and saw Blaze looking longingly at the picture of her and him, he took a deep breath, preparing himself for the storm that could occur before him, he opened the door and walked inside. "Hey" he said softly, Blaze turned to him no longer seeming to have anger in her eyes, but at the same time showed sadness and fear. Blaze didn't say anything as Sonic came and sat by her, "What's wrong sweetheart? I know something up." Sonic asked sounding insistent to know, "nothing. ...There's nothing wrong." said gravelly, "hey, come on I know something's buggin you, this isn't like you at all, you're acting just like when we first met. I don't get what happened; you haven't acted like that in ages" Sonic said sentimentally "So? What do you care if I have act a little different?" Blaze spat, "what do I care? I love you silly, you know that, you know I hate seeing you like this, so I wanna be here for you" Sonic said poetically as he pulled her closer to him with his arm and began to caress her head. "Come on, I can't understand if you don't tell me what's eating you." Sonic said being soft spoken as always when it came to her before planting a comforting kiss on her cheek. "Well... It's not that it wouldn't be fun, it's just that..." Blaze began starting to sound brittle, "that it's a sleepover for girls, ...So no males are gonna be around" she said sounding tremulous, "yeah so? Hey if you feel like I'm offended by not being invited I'm actually not really, I know girls like to do their own things just like guys, so it's no biggie." Sonic said being candid, "It's not that." Blaze responded showing signs of ambience "then what is it babie?" Sonic asked wanting to get to the point of his girlfriends distress, "if I go, it'll be the first time we've been apart since..." Blaze said maudinly, "So what it's only for night, I don't see what's so wrong about-" Sonic cut himself off when he saw Blaze leaned into him and clutching his waist rather tightly, Sonic couldn't understand why but he quickly used introspective and realized.
"...You're still scared that I'll disappear aren't you?" Sonic said showing his full signs of compassion," Sonic looked down to her and watched as she nodded her head rubbing her head on his chest, Sonic rested his head on top of hers and started to sway her gently. "Hey, don't worry angel, I won't leave you, not now not ever, I think I proved that a few weeks ago remember?" He said smoothly referencing to their trip to her world, Sonic could make out a slight moan coming from showing clearly she was still worried despite his comfort, so he chose to go for another tactic.

Sonic distanced himself and lifted Blaze's chin so that her eyes met his. "Hey, I've got proof that I won't go" on that Blaze looked to him with hopeful eyes inside eager to hear the hope that would take her fear, Sonic glanced down which instinctively Blaze followed his movement and it lead it to her seeing her gold bracelet shimmering in the sunlight from the skylight. She remembered what it represented; she looked up back at Sonic to see him with his trademark wink. "Two different worlds didn't stop me, a mad megalomaniac didn't stop me, not even laws and royalty could hold me back, so I promise one night apart won't take me away." Sonic said soft but confident. "But... What about you?" Blaze asked seeming to still not be sure, "Don't worry about me, you got out and have fun." Sonic said putting his hand on her shoulder, "why? Do you want me to go?" she inquisitively, "Because," Sonic began "I fell in love with you cause you are a strong independent girl, and I don't want you to live in constant fear that something might happen to me when I'm not around, and from it you feel helpless and weak and I never want that to happen, so if you do go it'll show you that things can't change that easily and that nothing can ever separate us. Plus you'll also get to have some time with your friends and meet new ones too." Sonic explained poignantly. As Blaze listened on it began to calm her, it all sounded tempting and so assuringly easy but she still wasn't 100 hundred percent sold, "I guess... But I still don't know" she answered timidly looking back down to her feet. She heard Sonic sigh, she looked back up to him to see his confident smile was still there, he put his hand on her lap and kissed her gently on her head, "I'll tell ya what, I'll drop you off and I'll explain everything to Marine and the others, and if you want to come home you can use Tails' phone and I'll be there before you can say hello on your end." Sonic said going back into his normal attitude, "... That... Sounds better, thank you Sonic" Blaze said intimately, she liked that idea, she could see what Sonic meant she had to try to prove it to herself that he was right. "Hey no worries babie, we'll just take it one step at a time, whatever makes you comfortable." Sonic assured, removing his hands for her and standing up for the bed. "So... What happens now?" Blaze asked nervously, "Well, last time I checked we still had hours before the sleepover, so why don't we go out and have time for us?" Sonic said reaching out his hand offering for her to take it. "Whad'ya say beautiful?" He asked with his usual charm. "I'd like that, that sounds lovely." She answered sweetly taking his hand and getting up from the bed. As they held hands they exited the bedroom and headed towards the front door and they exited and took their first steps outside of the day feeling the chilling air flow through them, as they looked out to the open world ahead of them they couldn't help but feel the nostalgia of being home again and it felt so good despite the vacation. "Shotgun?" Sonic asked her going back into the usual routine without missing a beat. "Shotgun" she answered and just like him feeling the romantic return to her, Sonic picked her up and laid her in bridal style as Blaze then wriggled to get comfortable. "Ready?" he asked looking down to her smiling on how snug she seemed, "Yep" she called up looking back up to him, Sonic planted his feet to get ready, Blaze giggled slightly in anticipation for the sudden bursts of speed never lost its flare. "Ok here we... Go!!" Sonic bellowed as he launched into usual Sonic speed and left a cloud of dust which laid dramatic scenery against the bright afternoon sky.
